Isle of Wight Charity Driving Challenge

09:00 to 17:00

Saturday 6th October 2012

For the first time, the Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service is hosting a special one-day Driving Challenge with the hope of raising a huge £15,000 for The Fire Fighters Charity and the Earl Mountbatten Hospice. The event will be held at the Military History Museum & BAE in Cowes

The Driving Challenge, taking place on Saturday 6th October 2012, will give participants the change to experience life behind the wheel of a variety of vehicles they may not usually get the chance to drive such as fire engines, HGVs, 4x4s  and even a tank!

If you are over 17 years of age with a full driving license then you can register for the Driving Challenge by contacting the Earl Mountbatten Hospice via 01983 528989. Participants will be required to secure a place with a £10 deposit, then raise a minimum of £90 for the two charities.

The Isle of Wight has many forts and castles, but perhaps none with better views than the Needles Old Battery that perches above the famous landmark at the extreme western tip of the Island. The Battery has panoramic views out over the Solent and the English Channel which are hard to rival.
