December is finally here, so we can officially talk about Christmas now (yay!)
There is little better than wandering around a festive market during the holiday season, sipping on mulled wine, munching on roast chestnuts and watching the sparkly lights on the trees. Couple this with a shopping opportunity to pick up some locally made pieces for someone special (we won’t judge if that means yourself) entertainment for the kids and carol singing to get you into the festive spirit. There are several Christmas Markets on the Island, here is our guide to some of the ones not to miss this December…
Gift Fair in Aid of Earl Mountbatten Hospice, Saturday 2nd December:
Held at Bembridge Sailing Club, with 30 stalls from the mainland and Isle of Wight, providing a variety of quality goods. 10% of your spend goes to the charity and you can feel, try and buy! No need to worry about waiting in for deliveries!
Newport Festival of Christmas, Saturday 2nd December:
The Newport Business Association and Newport Parish Council have jointly organised this amazing day of festivities which will include:
I Love Wight Christmas Food & Craft Market (2-7pm)
Visit from Father Christmas (12-2pm)
Meet the huskies (various times throughout the day)
Vintage Fairground Organ (11-4pm)
Spot the Angel Competition (during the I Love Wight Market)
Twisted Inflations Balloon Modelling (various times throughout the day)
Newport Christmas Lights Switch on with IW Radio (5:15-6pm)
Winter Carnival procession (from 6pm)
Music & Carol Singing (12-1, 2:30, 4:30-5pm)
Festivities start at 11am to the front and inside the Minster.
The I Love Wight Christmas Market will open at 2pm with a mix of local street food, crafts and festive food and drink! The market will close once the carnival procession has finished around 7pm
Little Gloster Christmas Party, Sunday 3rd December:
Opening up especially for our annual Christmas Market, The Little Gloster will once again be playing host to the island’s best local producers, with mulled wine, hot chocolate and delicious edible treats on offer, as well as an array of beautiful gifts. Christmas would not be the same without it!
Join us from 10.30am to 4.30pm, with a special visit from Father Christmas from 12pm. The adorable donkeys from the Isle of Wight Donkey Sanctuary will be joining us again this year for grooming and petting.
Feeling brave? Take a dip for charity in our annual Dare to Brave It Swim for the RNLI from 2pm. Just a £10 donation to the RNLI to take part.

Our popular Food Market in Brading will be back for a Festive Special before the winter break.
