This Friday (15th July) is the start of a 11 day celebration of our local artists with Isle of Wight Arts Open Studios. Open Studios offers a unique opportunity to see the work of over 125 artists from established to emerging talents. Doors to studios are open and you can sneak a peek where you would not normally be able as some studios are actually based in the artists own home. Entry to all is free and you will have the chance to view some incredibly diverse original work.
Many popular venues are open including The Depozitory in Ryde where you will find work from artist including award-winning Joanne Hummel-Newell, Chris Jenkins and Sue Paraskeva. Quarr Abbey will be showcasing work from Charlotte Hodge Thomas and over in Ventnor, the Central is a new venue as well as the marquee of demonstrations at Ventnor Botanic Garden.
The beauty of visiting several studios is that each is unique, with its own charm – you’re sure to have a warm welcome and to come away feeling inspired. Each venue will be open from 10am to 5pm each day. When you see the red Open Studios flags, you know you’ve arrived!
