Isle of Wight Arts Open Studios returns for 2018. For 10 days in July, the public are invited into the studio, home or exhibition space of local artists to find out more about what inspires them and view more of their work.
The Island has long been a magnet for artists, attracted to the rugged coastlines, miles of countryside and like-minded people. Building upon this, Open Studios aims to encourage more people to find out about the wonderful arts and crafts and the people behind them.
From Bembridge to Freshwater, and everywhere in between, local artists will be opening their doors and welcoming people in. From discussing techniques, to showcasing new pieces of work, artists across the Island are getting involved. This is the only event on the Isle of Wight that includes such a wide range of media including sculpture, painting, photography and pottery, and more unusual techniques such as driftwood art, glass art and felt-making.
The beauty of visiting several studios is that each is unique, with its own charm – you’re sure to have a warm welcome and to come away feeling inspired. Most venues will be open from 10am to 5pm each day. Look out for the red Open Studio Flags to know you have arrived.
Entrance is free and the event run Islandwide from Friday 13th to Monday 23rd July.
