There’s WiFi throughout the house so even though it’s the perfect place to relax, you won’t be 100% cut off.
A parking space comes with the property, but if you have more than one car, a public car park is just a five-minute walk away.
You will be within walking distance to many cafés, pubs and restaurants and there’s no shortage of places to eat. Besty & Spinky’s located at the end of the Esplanade is a great spot for a late breakfast or lunch, there’s a paddling pool at the front to keep the little ones busy while you wait.
House on the Beach
Not far away from the Wightlink ferry at Fishbourne, you’ll find the House on the Beach. A pretty New England style home that sleeps up to 12 people, its set within woodland and has its own private beach.
A perfect getaway for a group of friends, the six bedrooms comprise of two twins and four doubles, with the master double having a king size bed and a Juliette balcony (you’ll be flipping a coin as to who gets this room). There’s space for seven cars so if you are coming from different directions and all need to bring a vehicle, there’s plenty of room.
There’s a large living area, a washing machine and dryer in the utility room, a good size American-style fridge to pop all your supplies in. You’ll enjoy sitting on the terrace overlooking the Solent or wandering to your private beach for a fun summer evening.
For those less than sunny days, the house comes with a selection of board games, puzzles and DVDs, swapping the wine for a hot chocolate, it’s a cosy afternoon waiting for you.
You’ll be a short walk from Quarr Abbey and only a 10-minute drive from Ryde or Newport town centres.
If you’re looking for somewhere to stay that has more of a rural/ countryside feeling then look no further than Kingston Manor in Chale, 15 minutes from the seaside town of Ventnor and a short drive from the famous Blackgang Chine. This Grade II listed building is perfect for family groups and friends alike, set within 15 acres and positioned in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.
There are eight bedrooms accommodating up to 16 people and the property also allows for up to two dogs. The house comes with everything children need to keep them occupied on days where the weather is a little inclement, from Sky TV (the full package!), a DVD player, plenty of books, there’s even an Xbox!
Cosy up on rainy days by the open fires or, if the sun is shining, explore the grounds or pay a visit to the games barn where you’ll find a snooker table. Settle back on the patio with a drink or two and indulge in a few bubbles in the onsite hot tub.

Relax in one of the spacious lounges, both with open fires to keep you warm on those chilly evenings. During the summer months, sit in the conservatory overlooking the pretty garden.
There’s a large kitchen and various dining areas including the main dining room, equipped for all 22 guests.
If you’re on a family holiday with toddlers there’s a dedicated nursery room and with Tapnell Farm Park only a short walk away, it’s perfect for entertaining the small people.
On evenings where the group wants to just chill out at home, there are a total of seven TVs, four of which come with Sky TV. Grab a few bottles of wine and relax on the terrace or the private hot tub. What an evening. The large gravel driveway allows plenty of room for cars so you are only ever a short journey from the local shops. A mile or two down the road are a few pubs including The Sun at Hulverstone and The Blacksmith’s towards Newport.
For the perfect family holiday accommodation that allows pets, try visiting Three Gables in Newbridge. This pretty house, set within the West Wight countryside, sleeps up to ten people across five bedrooms, as well as allowing up to three dogs who can play in the secure garden. They’ll be no fighting for the bathroom in the mornings as there are four (two of which are en suite). If you have small children travelling with you, two cots and a toddler bed are also available.
You can prepare your own meals in the bright and spacious kitchen/diner then relax on the veranda overlooking the fields on warmer days.
There’s ample parking for four cars making exploring the Island very easy. A local shop is only a short drive away and the nearest beaches are favourites with locals, Brook Beach (where you can walk your dog all year round) and also Compton Bay (a favourite with surfers).
