When the rain hits, as it invariably will being the good old UK, it can be hard to think of some things to do with the kids to keep them entertained. Here are our top picks of things to do on the Island on a wet weather day:
Indoor play is the obvious choice. Take your pick from JR Zone with their artic blast and laser quest too; Jungle Jims, conveniently set inside an amusement arcade so with plenty of other distractions around; Sandown Pier has it’s own soft play inside, as well as indoor mini-golf, bowling and plenty of arcade fun. Or for the older ones, try Isle Jump with it’s 40 trampolines. If that doesn’t wear them out, then nothing will!
For those who enjoy a bit of history, why not try Brading Roman Villa. Get a unique insight into life in the Roman times, play dress up as gladiator or even have a go at a bit of excavation yourself. Osborne is great to escape the rain in style, as you explore Queen Victoria’s holiday home (and if the clouds do part, then make sure to check out the secluded beach too).
Tapnell Farm Park is ideal if the weather can’t make its mind up. With equal amounts of both indoor (including play barn, climbing wall and cute farm animals) and outdoor play (such as go-karts, archery, zorbing and more) it’s a great place to spend a day with the whole family.
Nature lovers will enjoy a trip to Dinosaur Isle with their display of over 1000 of the best fossils from the collections, large dinosaur gallery, exciting displays including real fossils, skeletal re-constructions, life sized fleshed re-constructions and two animatronic dinosaurs.
Get your art on at places like Chessell Pottery (who also do a fab cream tea whilst your’e at it) and Arty Shakes in Shanklin where you can paint to your hearts delight and try a delicious waffle at the same time.
This is just a small selection of things to do come a rainy day, and if you don’t mind getting wet, well the list is endless!
